More Audubon!

The National Audubon Society, named after our friend John James Audubon, has a great website with links to their magazine, birding hot spots, climate change information, and a wealth of other items of interest. One of the most fascinating things on their website is an online version of Audubon's Birds of America. Reproduced from an 1840 "First Octavo Edition" of the complete 7-volume text, the site offers images and original text descriptions. Bird species are listed alphabetically, as well as by family. There is an index of state birds, and another index which lists birds that have been driven to extinction since Audubon's time. Finally, there are links to anatomical images that Audubon drew.
